- Experiments in phase equilibrium of carbon dioxide – heavy compound systems

  Performance of experimental measurements of solid-liquid-gas equilibrium for mixtures of CO2 with heavy compounds, such as polyaromatic   
  hydrocarbons, fatty acids, aromatic acids. These experiments are performed in a view cell apparatus following the “first melting point”   

- Thermodynamic modeling of carbon dioxide – heavy compound systems phase equilibrium

  Thermodynamic modeling of the phase behavior for mixtures of CO2 – heavy compounds with  cubic EoS and cubic EoS/Ge models. The Peng –
  Robinson equation of state and the t-m Peng – Robinson are used coupled with classical mixing and combining rules, as correlative models. The
  t-m Peng – Robinson is coupled with Universal Mixing Rule and UNIFAC or UNIQUAC, as predictive model.

- Supercritical carbon dioxide extraction of essential oil and antioxidant compounds

  A relatively new process, the supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, is used to produce essential oil with antioxidant activity from dictamus
  (origanum dictamnus). The process parameters are investigated and the antioxidant activity of the products is tested with properly assays.
  Comparison among this process and conventional ones (liquid extraction, hydrodistillation) is performed. Simulation of the process with
  commercially available simulator, coupled with thermodynamic and mass transfer models.
