Dear students,
I would like to inform you that I will complete the marking of the assignments by 17/6/26. As I mentioned to some of you in class, since the examinations for the Schools of Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Chemical Engineering (CE) have already taken place, students from these Schools who chose to complete the project work did not have the opportunity to know their final mark in advance and therefore decide whether to take the exam to improve it.
For this reason, in addition to students from the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (see my previous announcement), project students from ME and CE who would like to improve their final mark can also take the exam on:
Please note that this exam is available only to students from the Schools of CE, ME who completed the project work. It does not apply to CE and ME students who did not complete the project work, nor to students from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering who will know their project mark before their scheduled exam date.
After the project marks have been published, I would like to ask CE and ME students who intend to take the exam to enter their student ID number in this sheet, so as to estimate the number of exam papers I need to print.
For any questions, please email me at gtogia@mail.ntua.gr
Thank you.
Best,
Goni Togia
Dear students,
due to the rescheduling of the exam, I understand that some of you, particularly those who are working, but not exclusively, may find it difficult to take the exam on 22/6/26. For this reason, I would like to offer an additional exam date on 26/6/26. The exam will therefore take place on the following dates:
I expect to have completed the marking of the assignments by 17/6/26, so you will know your project mark in advance and can decide whether to take the exam in order to improve your final mark.
If neither of the above dates is suitable, please email me at gtogia@mail.ntua.gr, and we will arrange a different time for you to take the exam.
Thank you.
Best,
Goni Togia
Dear students,
I apologise for the inconvenience caused by the postponement of today's examination. Unfortunately, due to a sudden illness, I had to seek medical advice and was therefore unable to be present at the exam.
The examination has been rescheduled for 22/6/26 at 15:00-17:00, Amph. Ä and class 209.
Thank you,
Goni Togia
Dear students,
I'd like to inform you that the ECE presentations on 22/5/26 and 29/5/26 will take place at the School of Naval Architecture, in Room 102, because Room 001 will be in use for exams for most of the day.
Thank you,
Goni Togia
Dear students,
I would like to inform you about several topics in a single message so that you do not receive even more notifications and announcements about this course...
1.Deadlines
Note: To give you some peace of mind, I have disabled the due date on Helios, so please make sure you keep track of the deadlines yourselves.
The deadlines have changed due to the different presentation schedules for each School.
Groups presenting during the week of 18-22/5, should submit their paper as follows:
Groups presenting during the week of 25-29/5, should submit their paper as follows:
2. AI LOG
Any changes you make to the AI Log, as discussed in class, should appear only in your final paper. You do NOT need to re-submit previous handouts, since the final paper is the document in which all final revisions are incorporated.
3. Writing and presentation guidelines
I have uploaded both the writing guidelines and the presentation guidelines in the Materials section.
Please note that the writing guidelines file has been revised and now also includes the assessment criteria. Those of you have already downloaded the file should download the final updated version.
4. Zoom link for possible questions
On Friday 15/5/26 at 21:30, there will be a Zoom Q&A session for those of you who may have last-minute questions before submitting their paper and beginning the presentations.
If you have any questions, please join the meeting.
For any further questions, please email me.

Dear students,
I'd like to inform you that starting this week our classes will take place on campus at their regular times.
Thank you,
Goni Togia
Dear students,
To prepare for the presentations, we now need to organise two things:
1. Presentation time slots:
Since there are many teams, the presentations will take place on the day of our normal classes, but class time will need to be longer than usual.
Not all of you need to attend the entire class. Each group only needs to be present during the time indicated for its assigned presentation block, since these teams will form the audience for each other’s presentations.
Please select a presentation slot for your team using this link and make sure you choose the relevant tab for your School at the bottom of the document. Please complete your selection by 10/5/26.
2. Paper submission deadlines.
The deadlines differ by School so that I have time to read your work before your presentation and provide feedback. The deadlines for submission of your document are the following:
· I will upload a separate document on Helios called “Writing guidelines”, where you will find detailed information about the formatting requirements for your paper as well as the assessment criteria.
Best regards,
Goni Togia
Dear students,
I need to accommodate a doctor's appointment on Monday (27/4/26), which was difficult to schedule at another time. Therefore, our classes on Monday will begin as follows:
School of Naval Architecture: 17:00 (instead of 15:00)
School of Chemical Engineering: 18:30 (instead of 18.00).
Thank you very much for your understanding!
Enjoy the weekend,
Goni Togia
Dear students,
×ñüíéá ÐïëëÜ, ×ñéóôüò ÁíÝóôç.
I hope you had a good Easter break.
I would like to inform you that for the next two weeks (20.04.26 - 30.04.26) our classes will take place online, because I am currently facing a temporary arm injury and I am not able to teach face-to-face.
Since the classes will be delivered online, the timetable will be slightly adjusted. The revised class times for the next two weeks are the following.
The classes will cover the theory only and an explanation of the assigned tasks rather than practical work.
Regarding attendance, given the current circumstances, attendance requirements will not apply until the end of the semester.
This is the Zoom link for our online classes. The same link will be used for all classes and for all Schools. If you have any difficulty accessing the link, please email me.
Thank you.

Dear students
I’d like to inform you about a Greek Natural Language Processing (NLP) system that was used in preparing an AI-Assisted translation class delivered to Mechanical Engineering students on 17/3/26.
The class was conducted by Prof. M. Pantazidou (School of Civil Engineering) and myself. To prepare for it, we used KriKri* (https://chat.ilsp.gr/login) and obtained somewhat mixed results. In terms of language support, Kri Kri generally performs well; however, its further improvement, depends on our active engagement with it. The fact that a new NLP tool has been developed by a Greek team at the Institute of Language Processing is in itself noteworthy, which is why I wanted to share it you.
If you think so as well, I encourage you to start working with it.
Thank you.
Best,
Goni Togia
* Based on its own description, KriKri belongs to the category of Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems, with a focus on Language Understanding and Language Generation.
